Merchants to pass out goodies

By Sandy Morris

Despite the cancellation of the annual Fall Fest due to COVID-19 precautions, local merchants and the Chamber of Commerce are working together to provide an afternoon of fun and food on Saturday, Oct. 31.

Trick or treaters will be able to visit merchants in the downtown block for candy and treats from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Merchants will be set up in front of their respective stores in the downtown area.

Other groups may set up at the Bank Park.

If any business or group would like to participate in this event, contact Michelle Alexander at Vintage Vanilla for details and set-up locations.

She said Tuesday that several organizations other than downtown merchants had already contacted her about setting up on the downtown block.

Hot Dog Meal

Immediately following the downtown trick or treating, members of the Albany Chamber of Commerce will sell hot dog meals in the Bank Park.

The meal includes either one hot dog or chili dog, chips, and a drink for $3. A meal with two hot dogs will be available for $5.

Meals will be available from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with all proceeds from the meals going to the Chamber to cover the cost of downtown decorations.

For more information, contact Mary Beth Jones at the Albany Chamber of Commerce office, 325-762-2201.
