The annual meeting of the Albany Chamber of Commerce is scheduled for the Friday, Feb. 3 luncheon at the Icehouse restaurant starting at 12:00 noon.

Chamber directors whose terms have expired will be up for re-election, followed by the election of officers for the next year.

Board members whose terms are expiring this year include Ramby Anderson, Clayton Snyder, Jacob Cleveland and Chris Beard. Cleveland said that he will not seek another term, while the other three have agreed to continue to serve.

Board members served three-year terms.

Nominations will be accepted to fill Cleveland’s spot on the board.

The board of directors will also select officers to serve until Feb. 1, 2024.

The meeting was originally scheduled for the Beehive Restaurant, but was moved to the Icehouse this week.

The regular luncheon this Friday, Jan. 27 will be held at the Icehouse as originally scheduled.

Valentine Project

New Chamber manager Brandi Lehew said that the downtown merchants are planning a Valentine drawing with the winners receiving $100 gift certificates for one of the nine participating businesses.

Customers will get entry slips from merchants beginning Feb. 1, with drawings set for Monday, Feb. 13. Entry forms will be issued by participating stores for each $10 in purchases made.

The completed forms can be placed in drawing boxes at any of the stores. All forms will be collected by the Chamber prior to the drawings.

“We will combine all the entry slips into one big pot and then draw for store specific gift certificates,” Lehew said.

Merchants who will be participating are Nostalgia Antiques, Buds For You, Sassifrass, Southern Comfort, Vintage Vanilla, Erline’s, Rustic Charm, Me and Mrs. Jones, Gannon & Grace, and Blanton Caldwell.
