Ten teams played in the Albany Masonic Lodge Wisdom Foundation Scholasrship Golf Tournament held at the local course last Saturday, July 20, including at least two groups from Abilene.

“James Waters and Tommy Terrell have the course in the best shape I have ever seen it,” said organizer Stephen Kayga, who added that the four-man scramble was a big success. “I don’t have exact figures yet, but I think we made about $4,000 for our scholarships.”

The Albany Masons typically award a $1,000 scholarship to one or more Albany graduates every year.

“We’ve had other fundraisers in the past,” said treasurer Randall Palmore. “This year we decided to try a golf tournament.”

Team entry fees were $200, and hole sponsors also helped the group raise scholarship funds.

“We want to thank the Albany Golf Club for letting us have it there,” added Palmore.

The first place team, with a score of 59, was Randy Walker, Ted Ivy, Gerald Garcia, and Tommy Terrell.

Winning second on a score card playoff were Ronnie Anderson, Donnie Anderson, Terry Moberley, and Westin Vickers with a score of 60.

Also scoring 60 was the third place team of Nate Schultz, Justin Winters, Zach Maberry, and Randall Palmore.

The Longest Drive competition was won by Terry Moberley.

Wade Montgomery took Closest to the Pin honors.
