The Masonic Lodge in Albany hosted a golf tournament last Saturday, Sept. 19 to benefit the Masonic Wisdom Foundation that funds scholarships to graduating seniors in Albany.

Out of the 10 four-man teams, first place winners were Charles Barrett, James Waters, Randy Walker, and Rodney Barton.

Albany Masonic Lodge member John Tate said the winners were awarded $900.

“The team did not keep their earnings but instead donated the money to the Foundation,” Tate explained.

Lawrence Hall was the corporate sponsor for the event, with 11 additional  hole sponsors. Donors also provided food for the participants.

Members from the Lodge cooked burgers on Saturday, as well as handing out sausage wraps and water.

“Preliminary numbers show that the Lodge will have enough to give at least six scholarships this year,” Tate said.

The Foundation gives $1,000 scholarships that award students $500 a semester, and then an additional $500 a semester is given for each year recipients stay in school up to four years.
