Trinity Lutheran Church will hold its annual Mission Festival at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, with Rev. Dr. Solomon Yadessa of the Multi-Ethnic Ministry of North Texas this year’s speaker.

“The ministry reaches out to immigrants from all over the world,” Trinity Lutheran pastor Tom Chandler said. “Dr. Yadessa is an interesting guy. He speaks several languages.”

The Multi-Ethnic Ministry of North Texas was founded in 2017 to serve the growing immigrant community in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Texas is one of the top immigrant destinations in the United States and in recent years has resettled more refugees than any other state, according to the ministry’s website. It has served people from countries including China, the Congo, El Salvador, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Iraq, Mexico, Nepal, the Philippines, Rwanda, Somalia, Sudan, Turkey, Afghanistan, and the United States.

Chapman said offerings collected during the festival go to the Texas District of the Missouri Synod for mission projects.

Following the service, a meal will be served at 5:00 p.m.
