Local vet clinic changes hands

Salt Creek Veterinary Hospital recently purchased Albany Pet Hospital, and the staff has already started tending to both large and small animals in town.

Dr. Keelan Lewis purchased the practice, and Dr. Brittany Berry will head up the veterinary hospital in Albany.

The practice includes two other locations in Seymour and Olney, as well as a clinic in Graham called Countryside Veterinary Hospital.

“We are so excited about adding this new clinic to our practice group and cannot wait to continue to provide high quality care to the Albany community,” Berry said.

The practice includes four other doctors who will rotate and fill in at the Albany location.

Dr. Amy Eiland, Dr. Sarah Smart, Dr. Mariah Fischer, and Dr. Katie Fischer round out the all-female team of veterinarians.

“Not only do we have all female doctors but every location also includes an all-female staff,” Berry added.

The veterinarians in the practice are mixed animal vets but each one has a special interest.

“Dr. Fischer will be in Albany on Mondays and her interest is equine, Dr. Smart is sheep and goats, and my interest is herd work,” Berry said. “I am needed at the sale barn in Graham on Mondays because of my herd work.”

Berry explained that the staff does clinicals and sees patients in the office, but Salt Creek is a full mobile practice, with the vets able to travel to homes and ranches to see large animals.

The technical staff, hours of operation, and contact information in Albany will remain the same as before, except for a new e-mail – saltcreekalbany@gmail.com.

The name change and signage change is in the works.
