Local churches celebrate Easter

Local churches will conduct Easter services Sunday, April 17 with other Holy Week services in advance.

Trinity Lutheran Church will have a Maundy Thursday service at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 14 (tonight), and a Good Friday service at 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 15. On Easter Sunday, a sunrise service will be held at 7:00 a.m. at the Lutheran Cemetery. Breakfast will be served at the church at 9:30 a.m. with Easter worship service at 10:30 a.m. An Easter egg hunt for children will he held after services.

First Christian Church will also host a Maundy Thursday service, starting at 7:00 p.m. on April 14. On Sunday, there will be a traditional flowering of the cross ceremony during the morning service. Everyone is welcome.

Albany United Methodist Church will host a SonRise Service at 7:00 a.m. Sunday at the Stasney Ranch headquarters in addition to its regular 11:00 a.m. worship service. The community and guests are invited.

Bethel Assembly will have breakfast and fellowship at 10:00 a.m. followed by services at 10:30 a.m. Immediately following the worship service, barbecue sandwiches will be served in the fellowship hall. Attendees are invited to bring a dessert if they wish. An Easter egg hunt for children will follow the meal.

Friendship Baptist Church will conduct its traditional flowering of the cross during Easter morning services. An Easter egg hunt for children will follow worship services.

The community is also invited to attend Matthews Memorial Presbyterian Church’s Celebration of Easter on Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m. There will be a children’s egg hunt immediately following the service.
