Local church to host Christmas Day Feast
By Donnie A. Lucas
Anyone who doesn’t have lunch plans on Christmas Day this Saturday is invited to attend the annual Christmas Feast set from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Matthews Memorial Presbyterian Church.
This is the 13th year that the church has provided a meal for the community on Dec. 25.
“It is intended to provide fellowship on Christmas Day for those who may not have family in town for the holidays, or for anyone regardless of the circumstances who would like to come join us,” said Tamara Trail, one of the event organizers.
This year’s menu will include ham, turkey, green beans, mashed potatoes, rolls, gravy, and homemade desserts.
Lunch will be provided in-person at the church fellowship hall, along with to-go plates that can be picked up at the south entrance to the church’s educational building.
Deliveries will also be made to shut-ins who are normally served by Vittles by Vehicles. A limited number of deliveries to others who are unable to come to the church will also be made available, if delivery instructions were arranged in advance by contacting Sandy Ingalls at the church, 325-762-2038.
“This is a ministry effort by the church and we want everyone to feel included,” Trail said. “We hope people will make this meal part of their holiday tradition.”
