Local Cheer Camp scheduled July 27-29

Albany Cubs Cheer Camp 2020 will be held Monday, July 27 through Wednesday, July 29, 8:30 to 10:00 a.m.

Parents of girls three years old through sixth grade can register their daughters starting now through the first day of camp.

Camp will be located at the Albany Bank Park this year, due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Cheerleading sponsor Audrey Faith said the Bank Park seemed to be the next best place after the gym, where the camp traditionally is held.

“We are hoping the trees will provide shade and help keep the girls cool,” Faith said.

Junior high, junior varsity, and varsity cheerleaders will instruct the campers on basic cheerleading skills and dance routines.

The participants will be invited to perform what they learn at the Albany Athletic Booster Club’s annual hamburger supper on Monday, Aug. 10. 

Faith added that campers will be divided by age groups.

“We are hoping for a big turnout, but if not enough girls sign up, we will combine groups,” Faith said. 

Cost for cheer camp is $25, with each additional siblings being $15.

Faith said if camp is cancelled due to -COVID-19, a refund of $15 will be given upon request.

Registration forms are available at theAlbany AISD administration office Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Campers are encouraged to bring individual water bottles to camp each day.
