Local 4-Hers attend camp

Fourteen youth from Shackelford County went to a Multi-County 4-H Camp at Buffalo Gap on July 12-13, along with local extension agent Michaela Bradford and 4-H members and leaders from Jones, Nolan, Fisher, Coke, and Sterling counties.

Bradford said that she has been to the camp in the past, both as a 4-H member and later as the Jones County 4-H program assistant.

“It was really neat to be able to go back as an agent for the same county that I went as a 4-H member,” she said. “The camp is geared toward teaching leadership and teamwork while allowing the kids to have fun and celebrate the 4-H year coming to an end.”

The youth went swimming, played games designed to build teamwork skills, and had a dance on Friday night.

“We will have a kick-off party for 4-H in August,” added the county agent. “The date and time are still pending. Information for kids to sign up for 4-H for the coming year will be distributed at the kick-off party.”

Shackelford County youth attending the camp included Jericho Box, Cache Clark, Paisley Clark, Presley Green, Jake Hale, Laithe Leech, Leddie Leech, Will LeMay, Myleigh Leveridge, Kenzie Neve, Gracie Price, Riley Reames, Austin Sanchez, and Briley Tabor.
