Albany Little League has 160 players on 16 teams with the new season set to start Monday, March 27.

League director Paul Hamilton said he’s looking forward to another successful year for the local program.

“Come out and watch us play,” Hamilton said. “We’ll start play next Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. We appreciate people’s support.”

The Major and Minor leagues will each have the Indians (coached by Steve Sutton)), Oilers (Dan Key), Reds (Joe Tidwell), and Eagles this year (Spencer Balliew). In addition, Albany teams will play two teams from Haskell and two from Cisco.

Minor games will start at 5:30 with Majors at 7:00 p.m. Start times for games against out-of-town teams will be 30 minutes later.

Albany Little League will field on Intermediate team, coached by Tony Wheeler. Hamilton said there will not be a Junior team this season.

The league also has seven T-Ball teams and five Coach Pitch teams. Those age groups will begin play Saturday, April 1.

Hamilton announced the league is again planning an outing to the Texas Tech-Abilene Christian college game on Tuesday, April 25. Details for the excursion will be announced as date gets closer.

“We’re going to keep the cost at $5 a player,” Hamilton said.
