The Albany Athletic Booster Club has several activities planned in preparation for Albany’s bi-district playoff game with the Rocksprings Angoras tonight.

The game will be held at San Angelo Stadium, with kickoff set for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15.

Thursday Schedule

Beating the spirit drum began yesterday after the 7:30 p.m. pep rally at Bank Park and will continue until shortly before today’s send-off. The cheerleaders took the first shift and other Lion fans kept up the activity all through the night.

The traditional “send-off” of the football team is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon (today). Fans are asked to gather in the Albany downtown area for the send-off.

Classes at AISD will release at 3:00 today (Thursday) to allow students and staff members time to make the drive to the game, which typically takes around two and a quarter hours.

AJ/SH principal Edward Morales asked that students not be allowed to leave and that parents not pick them up prior to the 3:00 p.m. dismission time.

“We’re letting everybody out early enough to make it to San Angelo in time for the game, so please don’t check your student out before then,” he said.

Exceptions will be made for cheerleaders and members of the band, who will leave on the bus at 2:30 p.m.

Tickets to the area playoff game will be available at the gate at a cost of $5 for adults and $3 for students and children. All passes will be accepted.

Albany will sit on the home side of the 17,500 seat venue which is located at 1789 Knickerbocker Road.

Playoff T-Shirts

Playoff T-shirt orders were placed on Monday, and those that pre-ordered shirts can pick them up today (Thursday) at the Bank Park before the send-off.

A few extra shirts were also printed, and will be available for purchase until they are sold out. The shirts are priced at $15 for short sleeve, and long sleeve for $25.

Other Activities

Parents of varsity football players have decorated the team bus.

Volunteers painted the spirit drum on Monday evening.

The football team sat down to the traditional team dinner at The Feed Store at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The senior parents sponsored the meal.

The community pep rally took place at the Bank Park at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14, and was followed by the all-night beating of the spirit drum.

The winner of tonight’s bi-district playoff match will take on the winner of the Santo and Quanah game scheduled for Friday night (tomorrow) at 7:00 p.m. in Clyde.
