Lion pep rally slated Thanksgiving night
By Sam Waller
Albany Lions fans will want to avoid loading up on too much Thanksgiving turkey in order to attend this week’s community pep rally.
The event is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 24 (tonight) at the Bank Park.
The Lions will play Wink at 5:00 p.m. Friday in a Class 2A Division II regional playoff at San Angelo Stadium.
Booster Club member Amanda Tabor said attendance has been good for the first two rounds of the playoffs, which saw Albany defeat Eldorado and Muenster.
“Even when it’s been cold, there have been so many people,” she said.
Park Pep Rally
Students and fans will gather at the Bank Park on Thanksgiving night, Nov. 24 at 7:30 p.m. for the traditional community pep rally, featuring a few cheers and pep talks.
The beating of the traditional all-night playoff drum will start immediately after the pep rally, with the cheerleaders signed up to beat the spirit drum from 8:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and other volunteers signed up throughout Thursday night and Friday morning, until the send-off.
Send-Off
The traditional playoff send-off is scheduled for 12:15 p.m. Friday.
Lion fans should gather along Main Street, primarily in the downtown block to see the team bus pull out of town.
Sold Out
Tabor said all Lions merchandise such as toboggans and headbands have sold out.
“We got them all sold after the last cold snap,” she said.
