Seating is already limited for the first performance of a new concert series hosted by Albany Live at the Aztec Theater set for Saturday, Jan. 14.
Fewer than 50 general admission tickets are available for the Paul Cauthen concert on Saturday, Jan. 14 at $75 per seat. All reserved seating has been sold.
Concerts are planned for five out of the first six months of 2023, opening with a return performance by Cauthen, who performed in the first series last year.
“We have already sold all of the reserved seats and have about 45 general admission seats are left,” organizer Michaela Smith said.
Tickets for the Cauthen concert are $75 for general admission seats. Ticket holders can upgrade the experience by purchasing a separate VIP access to the reception with the artist that will follow at a cost of $50. The reception includes complimentary snacks and drinks in the community room at the Aztec.
Ticket sales just opened for the second concert in the spring series with Charlie Robison booked for Feb. 18. Both reserve and general admission seats are available for $75 and $50 respectively, as well as the VIP add-on for an additional $50.
“We have already sold 80 tickets for the Robison concert, which just opened last week,” Smith said.
Dates and artists are pending for both March and June, and no show is currently planned for May. Singer Kaitlyn Butts is the only other scheduled performer thus far, with that event set April 22.
Albany Live is a non-profit organization established to support the cultivation of live music events hosted at Albany venues. It was founded one year ago in December 2021 and has hosted seven events to date.
“We were able to make a sizable donation to the Aztec Theater for the use of their facility,” Smith said. “We also utilized the services of several local businesses and helped bring in guests to our community to experience our amazing local businesses and restaurants.”
The group has expanded the mission for 2023 to include support of Albany ISD’s band and music education programs, as well as providing music scholarships to band students.
Smith presented band director William Vaughan with a $2,500 donation at the Christmas concert in December for use by the band program.
“We are also planning to establish a band scholarship program in the future,” Smith said.
Albany Live offers several levels of patron sponsorships, with certain perks provided at each level.
The new set of concerts is called “Live at the Aztec Spring Series.”
