The annual story hour will return this summer to the Shackelford County Library after being cancelled last year due to COVID concerns.

Organizer Janna Ledbetter said the yearly event will have a western theme  and will be held every Monday during the month of June.

“Our first story hour will be held on Monday, June 7,” said Ledbetter. “All activities will take place from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.”

The summer program will include crafts and games related to each week’s story.

The program is designed to give children access to reading material during the summer and familiarize them with the local library.

Story hour is open to two to four year-olds up to fourth graders.

“Pre-K children must be accompanied by an adult during the hour,” Ledbetter said. “Older children may be dropped off, but must be picked up promptly at 11:00 a.m. when the hour is over, because there won’t be anyone to watch them.”
