Lambs, goats to be validated Oct. 29

All 4-H and FFA youth who plan to exhibit lambs and goats this show season need to get them validated on Monday, Oct. 29.

Validation will be done at the Albany High ag farm during school hours on Monday, and at the Shackelford County Show Barn from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. on the evening of Oct. 29.

Swine exhibitors who still need to purchase pig tags must turn in their orders to FFA advisor Chris Beard by Oct. 31.

Pig validation tags are $18 each.

“If you need tags, please let me know ASAP,” said Beard.

The Texas State Fair ended on Sunday, Oct. 21, and several local youth earned ribbons with their animal projects over the course of the three-plus week event.

Youth market steers and youth market barrows showed on Thursday, Oct. 4.

Pan-Am wether doe goats were judged on Saturday, Oct. 6.

Youth Hereford heifers showed on Satuday, Oct. 20, and the youth Chianina heifers and youth heifer showmanship classes were on the final day of the show, Sunday, Oct. 21.

Local youths who placed were as follows:

Youth Market Steers – 5. Gracie Price, class 7 Heavyweight British; 4. Hattie Braly,  class 8 Heavyweight British; 7. JT Holland, class 20 Heavyweight AOB. 

Pan-Am Wether Doe Goats – 1. Cache Clark, class 1 Yearling Weather Doe.

Youth Chianina Heifers – 7. & 10. Gracie Price, class 7 Junior Heifers; and 4. Gracie Price, class 8, Junior Heifers. 

Youth Heifer Showmanship – Gracie Price was fourth out of 50 exhibitors in Youth Heifer Showmanship.

Other participants were Hannah Snyder, Conner Clark, and Paisley Clark.
