All 4-H and FFA youth who plan to exhibit lambs and goats at the county show and/or at majors this year need to get them validated on Monday, Oct. 28.

Validation will be done on animals at the Albany High ag farm during school hours on Monday, and at other locations in the county starting at 4:00 p.m. on the afternoon of Oct. 28.

“I’ll be contacting parents this week to set up when we’ll go to their property,” said Beard. “I’ll go where the animals are located to try to decrease the stress on them and on the parents. I plan to get them all done on Monday.”

Swine exhibitors who still need to purchase pig tags must turn in their late tag orders to FFA advisor Chris Beard by Wednesday, Oct. 30.

“Most of the pig tags have already been ordered and are here,” said Beard. “If you still need tags, please let me know ASAP.”

Pig validation tags are $18 each.

State Fair Results

The Texas State Fair ended on Sunday, Oct. 20, and one local youth placed well in the Youth Beef Heifer show last week.

Gracie Price placed second in class 3 - Maine Anjou heifers calves with Gracie Girl 16, and fourth in class 9 - Maine Anjou junior heifers with Gracie Girl 15.
