Lady Bulldog Action

The Moran Lady Bulldogs tipped off their basketball season Friday with a 39-27 home loss to Strawn.

Moran led 5-3 after the first quarter, but Strawn used a 16-8 edge in the second quarter to go up 19-13, then posted an 11-3 edge in the third quarter.

“We played extremely well,” Lady Bulldogs coach John Hughes said. “Strawn hit a couple of 3s that kind of changed the momentum in their favor. We were battling back from that point on.”

Johnnie Hise scored 15 points to lead Moran. Hannah Noble added eight points, with Hannah Rogers scoring three and Emily Murk one.

Moran played at Blanket on Tuesday. The Lady Bulldogs’ next home game is 5:00 p.m. Friday against Woodson as the opener to a doubleheader with the boys team.

Jr. High Basketball

The Moran Junior High girls lost at Baird 24-18 on Monday. The boys did not play because of a lack of players.

Moran overcame an early deficit to lead 11-9 at halftime and 18-14 after the third quarter. Baird rallied with a 10-0 run in the fourth quarter.

Cassandra Mendoza scored eight points to lead Moran. Ashlyn Crawford added five points, followed by Leanna Sikes with four, and Kacenda Thompkins with one.

Moran’s next game is Nov. 29 at home against Cross Plains.
