Staff members from the Kindred Home Health office in Albany are gathering school supplies in conjunction with the company’s 15th Annual Food Drive.

In past years the local Kindred office has joined the national campaign by gathering food items, but this year they decided to try something a little different.

“We’ve noticed a need for school supplies,” said Tracy Sullivan with Kindred. “I’ve asked both of the schools in town what they needed, and Kleenex and hand sanitizer topped the list for both locations.”

Sullivan said that she had expected pens and paper to be near the top of the list, but that wasn’t the case.

“They told me that since students do so much of their work on computers these days, they typically have plenty of pens and paper,” said Sullivan. “So we are hoping for lots of Kleenex and hand sanitizer, though all school supplies are welcome.”

All items donated to the local Kindred office will be distributed to Shackelford County schools soon after the school year starts, so the drive will end on Friday, Aug. 23.

Donations can either be dropped off at the Kendrick office at 100 North Main between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, or call 325-762-2854 to have the items picked up.

Kindred at Home is the country’s largest provider of home health, hospice and community-based services provided in more than 800 locations throughout 41 states.
