The Albany Kiwanis Club is sponsoring a free junior golf clinic in conjunction with Central Texas Junior Golf.

The clinic for students in third through eighth grade is scheduled for 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday, June 26, at Albany Golf Club.

Instruction will be by PGA professionals.

To preregister, visit the Central Texas Junior Golf Facebook page or call 325-895-0817.

Clubs will be provided for those who do not have a set.

“If they don’t have clubs, they need to note that when they preregister,” Coralie Tidwell of Central Texas Junior Golf said. “We have to know what clubs to bring.”

In addition to clinics, Tidwell said, CTJG offers a handful of spring and late summer tournaments for fifth through eighth graders.

“We do these so kids can learn to play tournament golf before they get to high school,” Tidwell said. “We’re hoping Albany will get on board with that. Our next one will be in August.”

Tidwell said CTJG hopes to conduct up to four tournaments this summer.

“These are team tournament, just like high school golf,” she said. “They play their own ball, but it’s not an individual event. We’re trying to teach kids what the game will be like going forward.”
