Jr. high play cast to perform today

Theater art students from Albany Junior High School will present Robert Nail’s “Antic Spring” in the district one-act play competition taking place in the Albany High auditorium today, Nov. 15.

Because the Lion football team is playing at San Angelo this evening at 6:30 p.m., the local thespians were able to obtain permission to take to the stage at 11:00 a.m., earlier than originally scheduled, so that they can join their peers at the game in San Angelo that night.

“The junior high one-act play contest will now begin at 11:00 a.m.,” director Jenny Scott said. “The competition is on a rolling schedule so when one play finishes, the next will get ready to go on stage. The new order of schools will be Albany, Stamford, Haskell, Roscoe Collegiate, and Hawley.”

The public is welcome to attend the UIL one-act play competition, but guests are only allowed to enter and exit the auditorium between performances, and not during a play.

Written by Albany native and Fandangle creator Nail, “Antic Spring” follows the humorous misadventures of a group of young people as they head out on a picnic.

Cast members include Chelsy Parsons – Gwendolyn, Caden Price – Sam, Cole Chapman – Robert, Briley Tabor – Blossom, Ella Webb – Ginger, and London Fuentes – Elbert.

Alternates are Ashley Richards, Melissa Olivarez, Andrew Leverton, and Chloe Broadus.

The crew members are Keatin Russell, Gracie Price, Leddie Leech, Brooke Kayga, and Presley Green.
