Rehearsals for next month’s Fort Griffin Fandangle Sampler at Reynolds Bend will pick up next week with two sessions scheduled.

The cast and crew conducted a second rehearsal Tuesday, March 15 at the Aztec Theater. Next week, rehearsals will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 22 and Thursday, March 24 at the Bank Park.

The Sampler will be performed at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, April 16 at Reynolds Bend on the Lambshead Ranch. The evening will include a catered meal and dance following the performance.

Fandangle director said turnout for the first rehearsal on Tuesday, March 8, was lower than hoped for, but she expects participation to pick up.

"We’re encouraging people to come,” Ayers said. “I know a lot of people had conflicts, and it’s spring break this week, but if people are around and available, come on to practice.”

Ayers said she has enough cast members for the Sampler, but is looking for more.

“The more we have, the better the show is, and it makes it more fun,” she said. “People don’t necessarily have to be on a microphone, so don’t worry about being able to sing. It’s about being a part of the show.”

Ayers is also seeking young riders to be part of the performance.

“Anybody interested in riding a horse needs to contact me,” she said. I’ve already got eight kids lined up, but again, the more the merrier with that. Having young riders in the Sampler is not something we normally do.”

Membership Drive

Meanwhile, the Fort Griffin Fandangle Association is continuing with its annual membership drive.

“We’re sending out memberships and Sampler invitations on a daily basis,” Fandangle office manager Jamie Parsons said. “We’re starting to get RSVPs in.”

Memberships are available at seven levels ranging from Pioneer at $25 to platinum at $5,000. The Pioneer membership level is open only to those age 65 and up.

Memberships may be purchased online at www.fortgriffinfandangle.org or by calling the Fandangle office at 325-762-3838.

Parsons reiterated that memberships are required to receive an invitation to the Sampler, and those planning to attend should obtain one as soon as possible.
