Items needed for youth lake retreat

Junior high and high school youth still have a couple of days to sign up for the remaining spots at The Feed Store’s lake retreat scheduled to take place the last weekend of July.

Registration is $25, and the signup deadline is Monday, July 16.

“We are trying to limit it to 30 students, but currently we are still accepting applications,” said Feed Store director Tisha Wilkins. “The girls will sleep inside and the boys will be outside, so we are hoping to borrow sleeping bags and tents for them. We will be sure to tag them and return them afterward!”

The local non-denominational youth ministry is hoping that community members will also loan them life jackets for the lake retreat weekend.

The retreat will be at the Trails’ house on Hubbard Creek Lake.

“We will have a certified lifeguard on duty on Saturday, July 28, which is our main water day,” said Wilkins.

The youth will leave for the retreat around 6:00 p.m. on Friday, July 27, and will come back shortly after lunch on Sunday, July 29, according to youth minister Levi Herron.

“We plan to go tubing, wake boarding, play games, and have worship,” added Herron. “Parents and students can pick up registration forms and information packets at The Feed Store.”

Other activities on The Feed Store calendar include volleyball at the park on July 17, and a trip to Skatin’ Place in Abilene on July 20.

For scheduling details, local youth are encouraged to check for updates on Facebook and/or Instagram, according to Wilkins.
