Moran schools began end-of-course STAAR testing this week with students in third through 10th grades.

Testing began Tuesday, May 3 with freshmen tested in English, and continued on Wednesday with biology.

Upcoming tests include freshmen in U.S. history and eighth graders in science and history,

“Once we get testing done, we’ll have a week of school left,” principal Jo Hise said. “The last days of testing will be May 18-19. Then there will be a week of field trips, awards banquets, field days, and a few more fun things like that.”

NHS Induction

Moran will have its inaugural National Honor Society induction at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 9 at the Moran Events Center.

Hise said eight students will be inducted.

The chapter held an organizational meeting in March to finalize bylaws and a constitution.

A faculty committee chaired by Bryce Hughes organized the chapter. Other committee members were Matthew Hise, John Hughes, Anita Wheat, Jill Bennett, and Carly Henson.

Teacher Appreciation

Members of the Moran PTO have been conducting events for Teacher Appreciation Week with different themes for each day.

On Tuesday, a chips and dips bar was served, while the Shackelford County Ex-Teachers Association also provided treats. Thursday (today) featured a taco bar in observance of Cinco de Mayo.
