Members of the Shackelford County Hospital District’s board of directors met on Tuesday night, Feb. 16 with the primary purpose of approving payment of bills, and that’s about all they had time for, with a nearby house fire interrupting the session.

Board president Jo Ann Estridge said that a special session will need to be called before the next regular meeting scheduled March 15 in order for the directors to take care of several items that were on Tuesday’s agenda.

Discussed before adjournment was the fact that an election will be held May 1 to decide three directors from among the four candidates who filed before the Feb. 12 filing deadline.

Estridge also mentioned during the brief meeting that the directors and staff appreciate the efforts of county commissioner Ace Reames, who utilized the precinct 2 maintainer to clear the driveways of snow at the EMS station so that ambulances could answer emergencies more easily.
