Homecoming royalty to be crowned Friday
Albany High School will celebrate Homecoming 2025 on Friday, Sept. 19, with traditional festivities that include a downtown parade and the presentation of royalty during halftime of the football game against Coahoma.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Robert Nail Memorial Stadium.
Homecoming Parade
This year’s parade will begin at 5 p.m. and travel through downtown Albany before returning to the stadium parking lot.
The Honor Class of 1975, celebrating its 50th reunion, is expected to have a float in the parade, and the AHS classes of 1965 and 1980 will also be represented.
While the entry deadline was Monday, parade organizers noted that they may still be able to accommodate last-minute entries.

Parade lineup starts at 4 p.m. in front of the football stadium. The theme for this year’s floats is “Cities.”
Class floats for each class are as follows:
•Junior High – New York, New York
•Freshmen – Los Angeles, California
•Sophomores – Nashville, Tennessee
•Juniors – Miami, Florida
•Seniors – Las Vegas, Nevada
Most royalty and sweetheart representatives will ride in the parade, with the exception of varsity football players.
Senior king and queen nominees will be featured in classic or luxury vehicles, followed by other honorees, the Coming Home King and Queen and the alumni floats.
The parade will be led by the Albany Junior-Senior High cheerleaders and the Ragin’Red Band.
Coming Home Honorees
Rick Chapman and Teresa Hudman Whisler have been named the 2025 Coming Home King and Queen by the AHS Class of 1975 in honor of their 50th class reunion.
The pair will ride in the parade and will also be recognized during halftime.
King & Queen Nominees
Senior nominees for Homecoming King and Queen, as selected by each high school classe, are:
•Seniors – Calhan Fairchild and Madi Parrott
•Juniors – Cade Fairchild and Mimi Ivy
•Sophomores – Shawn Keen and Serenity Murphy
•Freshmen – Jaxson Street and Jayden Kelly
The Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned during halftime. Although nominees are seniors, the entire student body votes to determine the winners.
