Nominees and other class royalty were selected last week for Albany High’s homecoming set for Friday, Oct. 14.

The traditional “big” homecoming celebration held by the Albany Ex-Students Association and the high school will kick off with a parade at 5:00 p.m. down Main Streeet, around the Courthouse and back to the football field.

The parade is open to the public to enter for graduating classes or local organizations or groups. In addition to floats decorated by the junior high and each high school grade level, class princes and princesses, organizational sweethearts and beaus, and king and queen nominees will be presented.

Anyone interested in having an entry in the parade should call the high school office at 325-762-3974.

The game will start at 7:00 p.m. with the Lions hosting Cross Plains in a district contest.

The royal court will be presented at halftime, with the crowning of the king and queen.

The Coming Home King and Queen from the honor class of 1972 will also be presented.

The ex-students association will host a brunch and meeting at the Aztec Theater on Saturday morning. All members of the association are invited to attend.

The association president this year is Buford Salters.

Students from each grade level elected a pair of seniors as nominees for Homecoming King and Queen. Named by the senior class were Cole Chapman and Ashley Richards. Juniors selected London Fuentes and Ella Webb, and the sophomores nominated Koy Cauble and Leddie Leech, while the freshmen picked Coy Lefevre and Gracie Price.

A class prince and princess was also voted on by freshmen through juniors. Lanxton Viertel and Brooklyn Abbate were selected to represent the junior class, while Brody Brown and Caroline Holson were named by the sophomores, and Huffman Heatly and Mimi Ivy were named by the freshman class.

Other halftime royal will include the Football Sweetheart and Escort, Madailein Beard and Wyatt Beard, along with beaus and sweethearts voted on by the FFA, FCCLA and band. Elections for those positions were not finalized at press time.
