Albany High School Homecoming 2020 festivities will not be as extensive this year, but the community is gearing up to cheer for the Lions against the Ranger Bulldogs on Friday, Oct. 12.

The homecoming game is planned for 7:00 p.m. at Robert Nail Memorial Stadium, after the initial Oct. 2 date was rescheduled.

Albany Independent School District super-intendent Jonathan Scott said the homecoming festivities this year will include the game and halftime program with the homecoming court.

Street Painting

Albany Athletic Booster Club secretary Tisha Wilkins said the traditional street painting will take place on Sunday, Oct. 11.

All athletes and parents, along with community volunteers, are welcome to meet at the high school at 2:00 p.m. to start hanging streamers around town. Others can join in after the National Honor Society induction.

Wilkins explained that at 5:00 p.m. the volleyball players, cheerleaders and their parents will meet at the high school to begin painting.

“The volleyball players will start in front of gym, and the cheerleaders will paint high school hill,” Wilkins added.

At 6:00 p.m., football players and parents will begin painting at the field house parking lot and then move to Main Street.

Wilkins emphasized that parents, especially dads, can help mix paint.

Volunteers will be needed again on Sunday, Oct. 17 to remove all the streamers that were put up on the previous Sunday.
