Local 4-H member Johnnie Hise took part in the state 4-H Fashion Show on Tuesday, June 8 in College Station.

Hise placed first on April 30 in San Angelo in her division which advanced her to the state contest.

There were eight contestants in the category of Construction-Semi-Formal to Formal, according to Hise.

“We are still waiting on our scorecards, but I wasn’t in the top three, so I won’t advance to Nationals,” said Hise. “Overall, there were about 50 people competing in different divisions.”

Hise said even though she didn’t advance, she had fun just being in College Station and meeting new people.

“I’m a Texas 4-H Fashion and Design Ambassador,” Hise said. “This is the first time we have been able to have a face to face meeting with other ambassadors around the state.”

Hise said part of her duties as an ambassador was to work check-in and help pack for the Duds to Dazzle competition.

Next year Hise will be a senior and has already set a goal for herself.

“I’d love to make it to Nationals,” she said.

Hise said she knows what she needs to be prepared for at the state level next year in order to reach her goal of attaining Nationals.
