Hinkle, O’Keefe named MISD royalty

Samantha Hinkle and Danny O’Keefe were crowned queen and king of the Winter Formal Thursday, Dec. 22, as Moran High School students celebrated the holiday break.
Moran principal Jo Hise said the event, which was held at the Moran Events Center, was themed “Snow Ball” and drew about 25 attendees.
Cheer Competition
Moran cheerleaders competed in the UIL Spirit state championships, held Thursday-Saturday, Jan. 12-14 at Fort Worth Convention Center.
Moran failed to advance out of Thursday’s preliminary round after posting a composite score of 138.800.
The seven-member team scored 52.450 in Fight Song, 38.300 in Band Chant and 48.050 in Crowd leading.
A total of 23 schools competed in the preliminaries with the top 10 advancing to the finals. Munday won the title with Guthrie second and Benjamin third.
New Teacher
Moran superintendent Dr. John Denson announced the addition of Robert Stanley to the faculty, teaching agriculture classes.
Stanley, a graduate of Abilene Christian University, is certified for welding and ag mechanics. He has been teaching for 18 years.
“Mr. Stanley will also have CTE administrative duties and will contribute to building a well-rounded FFA experience for Moran ISD students,” Denson said.
Blood Drive
Moran’s National Honor Society will conduct a blood drive Monday, Jan. 23 at the school from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
A signup sheet is available in the front office. Students who are 16 or younger must have parental permission to donate.
