Highway 6 scheduled for repair

A September 2019 “let date” for road repairs on State Highway 6 has been scheduled by the Texas Department of Transportation.

Repairs are definitely needed as testified by the “Rough Road” signs posted on the road by TxDOT.

Although no information about the Highway 6 project was available from the local or Abilene offices, the TxDOT website said that the “surfacing/roadway restoration” would extend from Pecan Street in Albany south to the Callahan County line.

“No more bids can be submitted after that point and the apparent low bidder is identified for consideration of the award, or the contracts are rejected,” said TxDOT media information officer Adam Hammons in the Austin office.

He added that the award of a standard contract can take roughly two to three weeks after the bids are opened, with another 20-25 days to contract execution.
