Henry, Jones exchange vows

Makaela Rae Henry, daughter of David and Megan Henry of Albany was united in marriage on Sept. 19, 2020 to Justin Doyle Jones, son of Ken and Kelley Jones, also of Albany. Dr. Ronald Rainwater, professor at Hardin-Simmons University, officiated at the cere­mony held outside at dusk at Happy Wife Happy Life Wedding Venue at Albany.

The bride is the granddaughter of Lonell and Anita Henry of Albany and the late David and Marcelyn Makela of Abilene.

Grandparents of the groom are Doyle and Nina Jones and Johnny and Rebecca White, all of Albany.

The ceremony arches were decorated with ivory flowing organza and flower arrangements made by the bride. The aisle was lined with cowhides and rustic boards reciting the I Corinthians 13:4 verse. Additional ceremony flowers were created by The Bouquet and Co. in Breckenridge.

Organ music was provided by Eric Logan and eMotion Entertainment. The processional was a acoustic guitar rendition of “A Thousand Years.” The recessional acoustic rendition was “Up Around the Bend.”

The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a strapless mermaid style moscato and ivory lace gown by Stella York. It featured a sheer back, fabric covered buttons and a chapel length train adorned with lace. In a nod to her western heritage, the bride wore cowboy boots.

The bride’s veil was chapel length and was purchased in memory of the bride’s maternal grandmother, Marcelyn Makela.

The bride made her own silk bouquet featuring flowers indicative of the season such as primrose, ranunculus, succulents, and sweet alyssum. Pinned to the bouquet were war medals earned by both her late grandfather David Makela, a Vietnam veteran and Purple Heart recipient, and her late uncle, Ryan Makela, a Gulf War veteran.

Cambrey Jones of Austin served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Julliana Delacot, Kendra Ware, Scarlett Yates, LeAnn Jones, sister of the groom, and Kelsey Jones, sister-in-law of the groom.

The bridesmaids wore floor length turquoise chiffon dresses of their own personal style with cowboy boots.

 Attendants carried bouquets made by the bride in a similar style to her own.

The flower girls were Kinley Kerr, daughter of Travis and Brittney Kerr; Hadleigh Jones, niece of the groom and daughter of K.C. and Kelsey Jones; and Casey Grace Jones, niece of the groom and daughter of Cody and LeAnn Jones. They wore champagne colored tulle dresses and cowboy boots and wore flower crowns made by the bride. They carried fresh wild flower petals inside lanterns as they walked down the aisle.

K.C. Jones, brother of the groom, was his best man. Groomsmen included Dillon Freasier, Ethan Nall, Josh Hudman, and Parker Henry, brother of the bride.

Ringbearers were Kason Kerr, son of Travis and Brittney Kerr, and Silas Bradford, son of Troy and Michaela Bradford. 

Ushers were Ethan and Clay Green, cousins of the groom.

The reception, also held at Happy Wife Happy Life, was catered by Treca Edington and Prairie Star. 

Decorations were Rustic Elegance with champagne colored linens, white lanterns, wooden and birch candlesticks, and succulents. The flowers over the arches and other table arrangements were made by the bride. The table décor  was made by Pixie Dust Rentals in Breckenridge.

The bride’s cake featured a three layered French vanilla cake with fondant ruffled details adorned with fresh flowers, made by Krazy Cakes in Jacksboro.

The groom’s table had a variety of desserts and pies made by his grandmothers.

The reception and dance was coordinated and emceed by Eric Logan and eMotion Entertainment.

A fiesta themed rehearsal dinner was held Sept. 17 at The Feed Store and hosted by the groom’s parents.

The bride is a 2016 graduate of Jim Ned High School in Tuscola and a May 2020 graduate of Hardin-Simmons University where she majored in Fitness, Recreation and Sports Management with minors in Leadership and Sociology. She was a four-year member of the HSU Spurs Dance Team and Core Hip Hop Dance Company. She is employed at the USDA Farm Service Agency.

The groom graduated from Albany High School in 2014 and played football for Howard Payne University before transferring to South Plains College where he majored in Criminal Justice and graduated in December 2017. He is currently employed by Driver Pipeline Co., Inc. 

After a honeymoon in Broken Bow, Oklahoma the couple resides in Albany.
