Harvest Acres set Sunday

For Friendship Baptist Church members, the annual Harvest Acres bazaar offers an opportunity to include people from outside the congregation in the congregation’s efforts to help those in need throughout the community.

The church’s sixth annual bazaar will start at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19 at the Friendship Baptist Activity Center located at 600 Greer St.

Proceeds from the event are used to support local mission efforts.

“People right here in the Albany area run into difficult times, and this money is meant to help them,” Danita Johnston said. “It’s nice to have funds to help people out here locally. They don’t necessarily have to be church members – just anybody in the community. Sometimes, a little bit goes a long way when you’re in need.”

The bazaar will offer various craft items and Christmas decorations, including items donated by Shackelford County 4-H members, as well as a silent auction.

Among the items up for auction are a bench made by John Tate, a painting by Danita Johnston, stocking hangers made by Paul Johnston, a Christmas wall hanging (window pane with wreath), and a charcuterie board made by Jim Nobles.

The last bid will be taken at 3:00 p.m.

Stew and chili will be offered for takeout throughout the event with donations accepted. Other food items include baked and canned goods.

A wide selection of premade casseroles – beef enchiladas, cheese enchiladas, manicotti, cornbread dressing, goulash, and chicken spaghetti for a start – will be available to freeze for quick meals during the holiday season.

Pie choices include buttermilk and pecan.
