Friendship Baptist Church members are inviting everyone to attend the church’s third annual “Harvest Acres” this Saturday, Nov. 17, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. to buy homemade baked goods, purchase handcrafted gifts, eat a hot meal, or just “come by and drink some coffee and visit for a while.”

The gift and food bazaar will offer a wide variety of baked and craft items for sale.

“Darleen Davis has been collecting Nativity sets for years, and she has decided to offer some of those for sale,” said Friendship member Lavelle Vinson. “Paul Johnston has donated three of his benches and some tables.”

The fifth and sixth grade girls from Friendship’s Kids Rock Club are painting wooden nativity sets, and Twyla Harris has painted some crosses.

“Sherry Enloe will bring Mason jar centerpieces,” Vinson added. “And Rocky  made some horseshoe art pieces, including a cross.”

Food items for sale in the bazaar are expected to include casseroles, Christmas pickles, chocolate pie, buttermilk pie, cakes, breads, butter toffee, and  southern potato candy.

“Vanessa Moon is making the potato candy,” Vinson said. “She is a really good cook!”

A free-will donation evening meal of pulled pork, potato salad, coleslaw, beans, drinks, and desserts will be served from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m.

Monies raised from Harvest Acres will be used to benefit the church’s missions fund.

“Come and join us for a great time,” said pastor Johnston.

Friendship Baptist is located at 600 Greer Street.
