Group needs game plan

Chamber manager Mary Beth Jones, three Albany High School juniors, and their mentor Chris Beard are still asking for ideas for a community service project that the students, Tyler Beard, Brayden Sullivan, and Taylor Scott, can complete over the next several months.

“We will do a project this year, but we will not compete in the Texas Midwest Community Network training sessions and scholarship competition like we had planned,” said Jones. “There were too many conflicts (including stock shows and illnesses) that came up, and we started too late. Next year we will get started sooner and compete in the community project competition.”

Those with ideas for a short-term community project or who might donate toward the cost to complete a project are asked to contact Jones at the Chamber office, 325-762-2525.

“We are looking for a project that will benefit the community,” said Jones. “We haven’t had any suggestions yet, but we are hopeful that we’ll get some soon, so the students can choose one and get started.”
