Weather continued to interfere with the Albany Lions golf schedule this week, with the Baird tournament scheduled for Monday at Shady Oaks Golf Course pushed back to Thursday, March 24 (today).

The Lions will play Wednesday, March 30 at Haskell, making up their season-opening outing from Feb. 24, when play was stopped after one hole because of cold temperatures.

The two events will be Albany’s last outings before the District 10-2A tournament starts Monday, April 4 at Shady Oaks. Coach Tate Thompson said both meets will be critical in determining the lineup for district play.

Albany last played March 9 at the Eula tournament at Shady Oaks.

“We’re still trying to figure out who our five team members are going to be,” Thompson said. “That’s a good problem to have. There are several kids who can do some good for us and bring our team score down.”

The Lions played practice rounds over spring break at Diamondback Golf Course in Abilene.

“We got on some the greens and hit on a good driving range,” Thompson said. “It really helped to get that time in.”
