Girls Weekend of Champions slated Feb. 4-5

Youth from across North Texas will convene next month for the annual Weekend of Champions leadership camps at Eastland’s Solid Rock Camp.

Separate boys and girls camps serving students from eighth through 12th grades will be held on consecutive weekends.

Local FCA representative Paul Johnston will lead the girls camp, scheduled for Saturday-Sunday, Feb. 4-5, using the theme “Crown Him King.”

“It’s a leadership camp,” Johnston said. “There will be five different talks, all leading into how to show and tell a kid how to make God more real in her daily walk.”

Jamie Calvery of Big Country FCA will lead the boys camp Saturday-Sunday, Feb. 11-12.

“The topics might be a little bit different, but it’s basically the exact same thing,” Johnston said. “We’re just trying to show these guys how to walk that walk.”

Cost is $120 per camper. Johnston said scholarships are available for students who otherwise could not afford to attend.

Johnston said flyers for both camps contain QR codes that will allow youth to register for the events.
