The Junior Garcia Memorial Golf Tournament has been rescheduled for Saturday, Oct. 27.

“The golf course was already too wet, and more rain was expected on Saturday, so everything was postponed until Oct. 27,” said organizer James Sanders. “We hope everyone can still make it.”

Golfers that can not fit the rain-out date into their schedules can contact Sanders at 325-201-4770 if they need a refund on their entry fee.

“We will have the meal and auction, along with live music after the tournament,” said Sanders. “The raffle drawing will also be held on Oct. 27.”

Proceeds from the tournament, meal, and auctions are used to help support local charities and scholarships for local graduates.

Entry fees are $300 per team for the four-person best ball golf scramble, with tee times at 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Auction items include two $50 gift cards to EZ Feed donated by Texas Cattle Exchange and Joe Cooper from Eastland, Terry Bradshaw autographed Garcia Memorial Hole Flag, Hog Hunt at Stasney’s Cook Ranch, framed drawing of Watt Matthews, Albany Lions wall plaque, Albany Lions cornhole game, and a pen made of wood from the Shackelford County Courthouse.

Sponsorships are available at several levels and include a single hole sponsor for $150, $300 for a team, $400 to sponsor a golf team and a hole, or $1,500 for a Silver Sponsorship.

The tournament is an official 501c3 non-profit organization, so donations are tax deductible.

“The funds that we raise are used to support local charities and provide graduating seniors with scholarships,” Sanders said. “We have given approximately $30,000 in scholarships to AHS seniors.”

Auction and raffle items are still being accepted.
