Participants still have a little over a week to sort through unused items in garages, closets, and storage buildings, gather up things that are just taking up valuable space, and get them ready to sell to new owners during the Albany Chamber of Commerce annual garage sale on Saturday, Sept. 14.

The event is traditionally held on the second Saturday in September, and along with garage sales at various locations around Albany, many downtown merchants also have sales taking place on that day.

“You can register and pick up yard signs next week at the Chamber,” said manager Mary Beth Jones. “I will have the sale maps available on Sept. 14 at 7:00 a.m. at the Chamber of Commerce.”

Registering a sale location only costs $25 and should be done at the Depot during normal Chamber hours, from 10:00 a.m. to noon and 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., on Tuesday, Sept. 10, Wednesday, Sept. 11, or Thursday, Sept. 12.

Each registered sale location will be included on the free garage sale maps and issued a sign number to help shoppers locate the sale.

The yard signs are to be returned to the Chamber office on Tuesday, Sept. 17 or Wednesday, Sept. 18, and $10 of the signup fee will be returned, upon request, when the sign is turned back in to Jones.

“Or, if they choose, people can donate the sign refund money to the Chamber,” said Jones.

One of the sales this year will be a fundraiser for Project Graduation.
