Garage sale registration deadline nears

The registration deadline for the Albany Chamber of Commerce community garage sale is drawing nearer with potential participants encouraged to sign up if they haven’t already done so.

“We need everybody to get registered by Wednesday, Sept. 8, to get on the map for the garage sale,” Chamber manager Mary Beth Jones said.

The city-wide garage sale is scheduled for Sept. 11. Registration fee is $10 and covers inclusion on the map of participants and a sign. Signs will be ready for participants to pick up Tuesday through Thursday, Sept. 7-9.

The Chamber office will be open 7:00 to 10:00 a.m. on the day of the sale to distribute maps. After that, maps will be available outside the Chamber door.

No Sept. 3 Lunch

In other Chamber news, Jones said there will be no Chamber lunch because of the Labor Day holiday.

“On Sept. 10, we’ll start back at the same time,” she said, “but we’ll move from the Icehouse to the Beehive for the next two months.”

Fall Decorations

Local volunteers plan to put up fall street decorations on Saturday, Sept. 25 in downtown Albany and several other locations on Main Street.

“Anybody is welcome to come join in and help,” Jones said. “We’ll have the fall decorations ready for homecoming.”

Cookoff & Cornhole

The Chamber is still accepting sponsorships and entries for the Home of the Hereford Cookoff and Cornhole Tournament set Oct. 1-2 at Webb Park.

“Anyone who wants to be a sponsor for the cookoff and cornhole tournament can call me at the Chamber,” Jones said. “If you want to enter a team or just have a question, call the office. If I’m not there, leave a message and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.”
