Game On! to continue with Bible study

Children  four years old through sixth grade have been invited to the First Baptist Church of Moran from 6:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. each night this week for a hot meal, Bible lessons about God’s team, crafts, and games at the free Game On! Vacation Bible School.

“I am very excited about our VBS this week,” said organizer Jo Hise. “We had 22 kids come the first night. They learned the parable of the Lost Sheep.”

The next two nights included the Bible stories about Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead, and Thomas seeing Jesus alive after His resurrection.

The lesson for today (Thursday, Aug. 2) will use various readings from the gospel of John to tell the children that Jesus loves them. They will learn to follow the ultimate playbook, the Bible, when telling others about Jesus.

Friday, Aug. 3, the Bible reading will be Acts 16:23-34, and tells of how Paul and Silas displayed joy in spite of being in jail. Attendees will learn that Jesus also gives them joy. Kids are reminded that the joy of learning about Jesus lasts much longer than the excitement of winning or the sadness of losing a game.

“We will end the week with a tailgate party on Friday, Aug. 3, at 7:00 p.m.,” Hise said. “Come join the fun!”

The theme verse for this year is 2 Peter 1:3. His divine power has given us everything required for life and godliness through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.

Noon Bible Study

Hise will continue the Game On! theme next week at a lunch time Bible study for sixth through 12th grade students.

The free event will take place at the First Baptist Church in Moran on Aug. 6-10.

“We will serve a hot lunch at 12:00, and have Bible study,” she said. “It will be a little bit different than the VBS.”

The VBS and the Bible study are free, and all area children are invited to attend.
