The 19th annual Friends of Fort Griffin Gala will offer attendees a steak dinner and dancing under the stars to the music of Aaron McDonnell and the Neon Eagles.

The event, which raises funds for Fort Griffin State Historic Site, is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 14 at Collins Creek Ranch.

Tickets are $50 per person. Tables of 10 are $500. All attendees must be 21 or older. Cost covers the meal, an open bar, and entertainment. Dinner music will be performed by Finis Dean Smith.

“I’ll be sending out invitations and posting them around the first part of September, maybe after Labor Day,” organizer Susan Waller said. “Anyone who wants to be on the invitation list can send me their address. People just need to let me know on their RSVP form if they want a table.”

The evening will also include a silent auction. Waller said she is starting the process of acquiring items for the auction.

“Anybody who would like to donate to it can contact me,” she said.

The Gala is the sole fundraiser for Friends of Fort Griffin, which helps fund renovation projects at the fort site.

“We have several things we’re working on,” Waller said. “We’re still working with THC on the sutlers store. We also give money to help with Living History Days, like food money for all the reenactors.”

This year’s Living History Days are scheduled for Friday-Saturday, Oct. 13-14.
