ResourceCare Summer Day Camp is less than one month away, and sponsorships are still needed to help provide a successful event.

Ragan Riley, one of the camp directors, explained that funding is down this year.

“We still need sponsors and monetary donations,” Riley said. “Other items we could use are spray- on sunscreen and bottled water for those wanting to help with other types of contributions.”

Riley clarified that the food provided at Day Camp is funded through the Summer Food Program grant.

“We have very strict policies that have to be met and followed with each meal we serve,” she said. “The ladies that prepare our meals work very hard to meet all of these policies and do an outstanding job.”

This grant is also the reason that campers cannot bring their own lunches or snacks from home.

“We understand that some parents want to send their kids with a sack lunch each day,” said Riley.“However, again because of the policies within this program, we cannot allow outside food due to restrictions that we must follow.”

Registration for the 2021 Day Camp is now closed and ResourceCare is set to have 151 campers in attendance.

In addition, there are 62 high school and junior high workers and volunteers.

“Orientation for all workers and volunteers will be July 7,” Riley said. “This will be a mandatory training.”

Day Camp is set to run weekly from July 12 to July 30.

Donations can be delivered to the ResourceCare front desk.
