Albany’s Project Graduation has begun its 2024 fundraising drive with one eventdown,aseconddrawing to a close, and a third in the planning stages.

Project Graduation was startedbytheAlbanyDrug Task Force to provide seniors a drug- and alcoholfree graduation party.

The night is free to all AlbanyHighSchoolseniors as a reward for their years of hard work. All costs are covered by fundraisers and tax-deductible donations from individuals and businesses in the community.

Thestartonfundingthis year’s party came Friday, Feb. 2 with a bake sale at thehomebasketballgames against Stamford. In addition to items purchased by donation, cakes and pies were auctioned off at halftime of the varsity games. “We had good support from our seniors and parents, as well as the basketball guests,” said Tisha Wilkins, who is organizing this year’s Project Graduation with Kenzie Fairchild and Cari Heatly. “The live auction items went well.”

Next is the Oreo Truffle sale, for which final orders havebeentaken.Thegoods will be delivered Wednesday, Feb. 14.

“We’ve already started making the truffles,” Wilkins said. “We’ll have a Dip Night on Monday (Feb. 12) with the seniors to get them packaged and ready to be delivered on Valentine’s Day.”

Dip Night will start at 6:30 p.m. Monday at The Feed Store.

ASundaylunchisscheduled for March 3. Details will be announced after the truffle sale finishes.
