Fundraiser meal set Sunday

Albany’s FCCLA chapter will hold a fundraiser lunch Sunday, Nov. 6, at The Feed Store.
The event is to help raise funds for chapter members to attend regional, state and national events next spring and summer.
Homecooked meals of ham, scalloped potatoes, salad, rolls, and dessert will be served from 11:30 a.m. until sold out, FCCLA sponsor Jennifer Marshall said.
“Last year, we had 12 students to compete at the national FCCLA conference in San Diego,” Marshall said. “We hope to have those same kids and maybe even a few more qualify this year. This year’s conference is in Denver and we need the funds to register and compete and all that.”
Albany revived its FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) chapter last year. Marshall said she hopes to avoid some of the pitfalls encountered in restarting the program.
“We didn’t have much of a bank account last year,” she said. “This year, we’re trying to get started a little sooner and get some fundraising going so we’re not panicked. The community was supportive in the spring when we needed the funds to go to national and I know they’ll support us again.”
