Shackelford County 4-H members Faith, Grace, and Cody Fry competed Monday, March 4 in the horse judging contest at the Houston Stock Show and Rodeo.

Faith Fry placed fourth with Grace Fry eighth in “reasons,” but the team did not place.

Fashion Workshop The 4-H club’s clothing and fashion program will have a “Fast Fashion” workshop at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, March 7 (today) at ClosetAngels.

“We’re going to talk about how Fast Fashion has an impact on our pocketbooks and also the environment,” Shackelford County extension agent Kelsey Bell said. “We’ll discuss the benefits of shopping second-hand or passing clothesdownandgetting the full use out of them before discarding them.”

Thesegmentwillhelp 4-Hers prepare for a District 7 Fashion Show event.

“It’s about buying, reusing, or upcycling,” Bell said. “Part of the contest isusingtheleastamount of money you can to put a nice outfit together and model it.”

The District 7 Fashion Show is scheduled for Tuesday, March 26 at Llano.

Thefashionworkshop will be the last club activity before spring break.

“After spring break, we’ll have a Horse Club meeting and a regular 4-H meeting,” Bell said. “We’re doing some Easter food baskets for ResourceCare. We’ve got a photography clinic lined up, then we’re going to tour ACU’s Rhoden Farm in Hamby.”
