Final 5th quarter to be held at Davis home
By Donnie A. Lucas
The final Fifth Quarter after-game fellowship will be hosted by First Baptist Church on Friday following the Albany vs. Santo football game, but where it will be held depends on the wind.
If winds are calm enough, the gathering for all junior high and high school students will be at the home of Ricky and DeVona Davis on Highway 6.
“Because of the dry conditions and burn ban that is in place, we will be using fire pits to roast hot dogs and make S’mores instead of a bonfire,” Ricky Davis said. “We got permission to have the fire pits if the wind is low.”
In case of a windy evening, the fellowship will be moved to First Baptist Church.
The church will serve hot dogs, chips, drinks, and S’mores if the fire pits are allowed at the Davis home, but if the event is moved to the church, there will not be S’mores.
The added attraction of cornhole games will be held if the fellowships is moved to the church as well.
“We think the winds that are forecast through Thursday will die down enough for Friday night, but you never know,” Davis said. “They will announce at the game where it will be held.”
Despite the location, the event will end at 11:00 p.m., so parents are asked to pick up their non-driving students at or before that time.
The Fifth Quarter fellowships following each game are sponsored by the Albany Ministerial Alliance, with churches taking turns providing the refreshments. Most of the fellowships were held at the Feed Store this year, but can not be moved there for the final game since preparations for Running Man on Saturday night will be underway.
