Members of the City of Moran Volunteer Fire Department raised some much-needed funds last weekend when they held a Fill the Boot fundraiser.

“The VFD was able to collect $575,” said member Michelle Taggart. “People in and out of the community were very generous!”

Most of the funds will be used to cover recent repairs on the fire truck’s brakes.

“The total for parts and labor was $328,” said Taggart. “With the boot drive, the department was able to replenish the money used for that repair and have some left over for anything else needed.”

The VFD is planning to have a hayride sometime this fall, Taggart added.

“Everyone just loved the hayride last year,” Taggart said, “so for sure that has to happen again. Thanks to everyone who always supports this volunteer department or any other fire department!”
