With only one day left to file for local offices, as of press time on Tuesday, there was still a shortage of candidates for several of the local boards.

The only person to file for an office since press time last week is Shackelford County Hospital Board incumbent Chris Beard.

Already on the slate of candidates is mayor pro tem Susan Montgomery for Albany mayor, along with newcomer Ragan Riley and incumbents Lester Galbreath and James Waters for Albany city council positions.

Ginny Ivy and Robert Montgomery have filed for re-election to their seats on the Albany school board.

Beard joined fellow incumbent Janna Ledbetter on the list for the local hospital board, although there were still two vacant seats at press time.

The filing period for a place on the ballot for local board elections began on Jan. 15 and will close by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14.

As of Tuesday afternoon, no one had filed for Moran city council, Moran school board, or the Fort Griffin SUD board.

There is not a filing fee to run for local offices.
