Fiddlers place at Western Heritage

Albany’s Romie Hinshaw won the 12-and-under age division of the Western Heritage Classic Fiddlers Contest on Saturday, May 14.
The event was part of the Western Heritage Classic, which ran Tuesday, May 10, through Sunday, May 15, in Abilene. The festival regularly draws several participants from Albany.
In addition to Hinshaw, a third grader, Albany sixth grader Charli Trail finished third in the Fiddlers Contest, and first grader Olena Hinshaw finished fifth.
Gage Burton, competing in the same division, came in sixth.
The 12-and-under division had 11 participants.
Robbin Westmoreland is the teacher for the Hinshaw siblings and Charli Trail.
Ranch Rodeo
Green Land & Cattle Company of Albany finished fourth overall in the ranch rodeo, held Friday and Saturday, placing for the second year in a row.
The ranch rodeo pits teams of working cowboys in events such as team branding, team doctoring, team penning, wild cow milking, and bronc riding.
Haythorn Land & Cattle Company of Arthur, Nebraska, won this year’s title.
Green Land & Cattle Company won the average in wild cow milking.
The Matthews/Nail Ranches team of Albany won the average in team doctoring.
Parade
The Western Heritage parade took place Thursday in downtown Abilene.
Former Fandangle cast member David Beard placed second in the Rubber Tire category.
